Hi all,
This blog is on my most recent event on the Europro tour at Longhirst Hall near Morpeth, Northumberland.
I had managed to play a practice round on my way home from Burhill so I travelled down the evening before for a 7:46am tee time. I started off with a bogey on the first hole, but it is normally a par 5 which we play as a par 4. I bogeyed 3 to be 2 over par but then quickly got my round back on track with birdies on 4 and 6. I then proceeded to par the next 8 holes, just missing several birdie putts from 12-18 feet. I hit half a club short into 15 and failed to get up and down despite hitting a great putt, I then hit a poor shot into 17 and had a round of 2 over par 74.
The second round was a windy day, I had way too many bogeys during the course of the round. I shot 4 over par 76 and unfortunately missed the cut by 3. I had 8 bogeys and 4 birdies, although I was happy that I birdied 16 and 17 and showed some determination.
I left the course feeling a bit frustrated as I didn’t feel like my game was all that far away from being very good. It was just little things here and there that I needed to improve, so I looked at all my stats and decided I wasn’t holing enough putts between 7 and 25 feet. I had a lesson on Thursday with Sandy Smith my coach and we have managed to iron out what I was doing wrong and I am very excited for the next few events.
I got a phone call on Wednesday of this week to say I have got an entry into the challenge tour at Spey Valley in Aviemore from the 25th-28th of June, so I am extremely excited about that and can’t wait to get there and try my best against the next level of golfers.
Thank you to everyone for reading and I shall update you all soon
Neil
