Mar Hall
Hi everyone,
I am writing you a report of the final Europro event of the season which was held at Mar Hall just outside Glasgow.
It was a very nice golf course which is set on the banks of the River Clyde and is a relatively straight forward golf course. The first 4 holes are tough and then the course opens out into lots of birdie chances.
The first round I played in the morning and I had a bit of a ropey start with bogeys at 1 and 4, I steadied the ship and had a birdie on 8 to have a front 9 of one over par 36, I had a bogey on the par 4 13th after plugging my approach shot in the front bunker and a bogey on 16 after pushing my second shot slightly but had a birdie in between on the par 5 15th which gave me a back 9 score of 36 and a 2 over par round of 72.
The second round I was playing in the afternoon and I started on the 10th hole, it is a par 3 with a green that slopes severely front left to right, I hit my opening tee shot to 6 inches and tapped it in for a birdie. I had a disappointing 3 putt on the 11th hole to be back to level par and then another bogey on the 14th to be one over par after 5 holes. I hit back with a birdie at the par 5 15th, just missing my putt for eagle, and then parred the final 3 holes on that 9 for a front 9 of level par 35.
I hit my drive on the first hole (my tenth) into a bush and had to take a penalty drop but I managed to get up and down from 67 yards for a par 5 which kept my momentum going. I hit a great approach shot on the 3rd hole to 4 feet and holed it for birdie, and then added another birdie at the par 3 5th after hitting my tee shot to 15 feet. I dropped a shot at the 7th after catching a flier into the back bunker with my second shot and then holed a great 25 foot putt for birdie on the 8th. I ended up shooting a 2 under par 68 for a two round total of 140 (level par).
This was unfortunately 2 shots too many to make the cut as due to the fantastic weather the scoring was very good.
